Slank is a musical group in Indonesia. Formed by Bimbim on December 26, 1983 for a bored playing music cover band and have a strong desire to create your own songs. And managed to become one of the historic and memorable musicians and influential of all time in Indonesia. In addition, Slank is also bearing the title of Indonesia's Highest-Paid Music Star (expensive-paid music stars) in 2008 and 2009 with the honorarium of Rp 500 million per show.
Birth of a New Work
Slank is the embryo of the birth of a group called Cikini Stones Complex (CSC) formed by Ben Setiawan Sidhartha (Bimbim) in the early 80's. The band only played Rolling Stones songs and did not want to play songs from other bands, as a result they end up bored and by late 1983 the group was disbanded. Bimbim continue their musical passion with his two brothers Danny and Erwan which later formed the Red Evil became Slank renamed, a name derived simply from the ridicule of people who often call them boys selengean with additional personnel Bongky (guitar) and Kiki (guitar). They had appeared at some stage with their own songs before Erwan decided to resign because they feel hopeless in Slank. With a long struggle formed the formation of the 13, Bimbim, Kaka, Bongky, Pay and Indra, the new Slank solid. With the formation Bimbim (Drums), Bongky (Bass), Pay (guitar), Kaka (vocals) and Indra (Keyboard), they started to make demos to be offered to the record company.
After repeatedly rejected, finally received the demo in 1990 and began recording his debut album. It's an album featuring the hit and I'm sorry it went off the market so that they were rewarded BASF Award for best newcomer. The album also seemed to "slap" Indonesia's music industry who was then still vigorous songs like the song Issabella Malaysia's Search. Music Slank the Rock 'N Roll Blues was practically the savior of the young people in Indonesia. His style is cool and friendly slengean but it's interesting that when the mass is still a minority.
Their second album, Kampungan also achieve the same success. Hits singles from the album Kampungan is Too Sweet Red Roses and made in two versions. Like love and Selling. But strangely,, precisely which version of Like love songs that became hits and is often played. His songs are peaceful because Kaka playing harmonica (not the first time only Kaka played harmonica). In this Kampungan album too, Slank include Nina Bobo song. Breath Rock 'N Roll and the Blues are still felt in this album. Naturally, because life there Slank music.
December 1993, Slank released third album, titled Piss / Three. Peace in plesetkan motto became Piss. Piss motto be a trend in that period (perhaps until now). Hits singles from this album are Piss and send me flowers. This album cover is a model that mimics the pose of Jim Morrison (The Doors). But many argue that the model on the cover is Bimbim.
In 1994, Slank once again released an album title that was given Biroe Generation. This song is also often performed to date. Hits singles from this album is Generation Biroe, Murdered Silence, and also You Must Go home is often played when they show the ending.
Their fifth album, released Minorities in January 1996. Displays single Bang Bang Tut who was also successful in the market and still often sung in their show. On this album also Bimbim sing a song called Angel his Saviour. His unique,, this song does not have any arrangements. Only Bimbim voice only.
Band discord
When working on the sixth album More Sad, Bimbim as the leader finally decided to fire Bongky, Pay and Indra. But there is also a mention that Bongky, Indra and Pay out or resigned because of the behavior of Bimbim and Kaka are already too severe in drug use. The divisions are in fact already be seen on their fourth album on the song Split Only Once. Bimbim even intend to dissolve Slank. But a letter written in blood by a Slanker make it the attack. The contents creepy. He vowed to kill Bimbim if Bimbim actually carry out his intention to dissolve Slank. Kaka and Bimbim still working on the album-6 with the help of additional player. Reynold in to fill the position of the guitar and Ivanka, who was often hanging out in Potlot also helped in to work on the project Slank albums to six with the formation of this transition period.
Sad Again album was released in February 1996. With a single Koepoe Liarkoe and Tong Kosong prove Slank still survive. Bids gig came. And while only a few cities that will be completed in a series of her show,, Reynolds says it wants to get out of Slank. The reason is because he is also not strong because of Bimbim and Kaka who was still trapped by drugs. Although it was persuaded to postpone his resignation,, Reynolds still does not want to continue the rest of his show. When it was institutional reform within the Slank happen.
The entry Abdee, Ridho, and Ivanka (Formation end)
Ivanka drawn into an official member. Slank is directly moved quickly after the death of Reynolds. Management immediately looking for people to to finish the remaining shows in several cities. Ivanka Abdee recommends the State to help Slank. Ivanka Abdee and indeed previously been friendly and one band in Flash. While the manager Slank time,, Mbak Wiwid contacted Mohammad Ridwan Hafiedz (Ridho) who just completed his guitar school in Hollywood for the requested assistance. They were assigned to memorize 35 songs Slank within one week. A big target and a short time. But perhaps because the two people it is a great musician, the target is reached. With the two guitarists is actually very confusing as well because of previous Slank wear only one guitarist. However, because time is very short and urgent, finally two people are used to complement the core formation Slank. And when the concert was, all eyes nearly fell into the two new guitarists. When it Slank predicted would be destroyed within a year but it turns out this formation is to survive until today and they continue to bear the works that define their existence in the world of Indonesian music.
The new album and a new spirit
The entry Abdee and Ridho in core formation and Kaka Slank make Bimbim continuing musical journey. Starting with the Seven album, released January 1997 with the single who are stomping Balikin. The song that signifies that Bimbim and Kaka wanted to break free of dependence. Coupled with Abdee and Ridho completely clean from drugs reinforce their intentions. They were stopped not because of fear followed by a mass that was already a lot, but they stopped it because of the many who followed them using drugs. The album has sold one million copies in just a matter of weeks. Bimbim again contributed his voice in song Bimbim Do not Cry. A curhatan created since 1993. Ridho played keyboards in this song. In this year also the Mother of Iffet as the mother of Bimbim take over as the Manager Slank.
The next album, Heart's eyes Reform released. The songs on this album a lot of talk about social issues and governance in the era of reform. Missed Period become a mainstay in this album. Slank also arranges traditional birthday song, titled Punk Java. On this album also contained a song that should be released on the album Seven, but exposed to the sensor. But when Suharto's New Order regime collapsed, the song can be entered in this album. Who Are The One is the title song. The unique thing of this song is song is only played by Bimbim and Kaka. They are both a play all. Bimbim also took the two portions of the song that he sang. Intellectual Actor and Not Want to Believe. On this album Slank give a bonus of a necklace every single original tapes. There are warnings on the back of the cassette to be accompanied to the audience under age. Many of the songs recorded live on this album.
Year 1998 also held a concert titled Slank Concert Piss 30 City recorded and sold to the market. The song is recorded live and there is a bonus of two new songs Doors and Eat Eat Gak. This album takes the theme a lot of political songs on his entry into it. Bimbim singing in the song If I'm So the President but there are lyrics that are changed by it. Almost in every song, there is little "lecture" from Kaka and Bimbim.
